Do I take any supplements for hair loss?

I’m not a big supplements taker. There are several reasons for this.

  1. Supplements contain unnaturally high concentrations of one or more nutrient, which may be difficult for the digestive system to process.
  2. By supplementing with an unnaturally high level of any one nutrient at any one time that nutrient may adversely interact with others in your system, which may cause binding of chemicals, which can cause other nutrients to not be digested — this could lead to a nutrient deficiency.
  3. Supplements often contain artificial bulking agents and other chemicals you wouldn’t want to digest.
  4. Some supplements can have other negative side effects. These may be rare but can occur.

Unless you really know what you’re doing, taking supplements is not a great idea. It’s far better to get the nutrients your body requires from natural food sources. However there are times when you may need high levels of specific nutrients in order to reverse a symptom of underlying poor health, such as hair loss.

In these instances I only recommend taking whole food supplements (not pills or capsules) and some powerful superfoods (which are essentially like natural supplements).

But it’s not just about eating the right foods and avoiding the wrong foods. You also have to make sure you are consuming the right foods at the right times. That means eating ‘building foods’ when your body will use foods to rebuild and build and ‘cleansing foods’ when your body is cleansing.

It may seem overwhelming and complicated if you’re new to this subject matter, but with some simple, clear instructions, it’s easy to get your diet right without having to take loads of pills everyday to get the nutrients you think you need.
