Why I don’t recommend that you take supplement pills for hair loss

Do you really know what's in your hair loss supplement?

I thought I’d write a quick post inspired by something I’ve just read on Dr. Mercola’s website about a chemical called Melamine, which, according to Dr Mercola’s article, is added to some animal feed in China and perhaps other countries. Check out the article here.

Eat local organic food whenever possible

In my eBook I explain how to get the absolute optimum nutrition that provides everything your body needs to provide your hair and skin with the raw materials required to grow strong and healthy, from an easy to follow dietary regime. I don’t recommend taking supplement pills because I don’t believe they are the ideal medium for the body’s digestive system to deal with. Digestion and assimilation of nutrients are a very important part of diet. You could take a great deal of vitamin and mineral supplements and think that you have a great diet because you are getting all the nutrients you need. But that’s not necessarily the case because these different nutrients interact together differently in different combinations. By taking a load of supplement pills, without extensive knowledge of what the nutrients do, how they interact together and so forth, you’re basically gambling with highly concentrated nutrient doses.

In my opinion the best way to obtain high levels of the right nutrients for your body is to eat good quality natural organic foods — the foods your body has evolved over millions of years to be able to digest properly. Ideally these would be local seasonal foods because they are the foods your body will be most suited to digest. The human digestive system isn’t really designed to take on highly concentrated doses of vitamins and minerals, such as those you might obtain by supplementing with vitamin and mineral pills. Furthermore many of these nutrients are synthetic and could potentially do more harm than good.

However there are ‘natural alternatives’ to supplement pills. Egg yolks for example are packed full of nutrients. They are in a sense like a natural supplement, except the body can easily digest and use the nutrients found in egg yolks — particularly raw egg yolks. Which brings me on to the subject at hand…

Be careful what you eat

Unless you are a qualified nutritionist, or are advised by one, the safest, healthiest approach you can take for your diet would be to eat natural organic foods AND to eat simply. If you’re popping loads of supplement pills you’re taking a gamble. Don’t do it unless you know exactly what you’re doing. Things like protein powder drinks can play havoc with your digestive system unless you get the stuff that’s been cultured correctly.

Do you know what’s in your food?

Now, the same dietary philosophy can be applied to everything you eat. Do you know what’s in your food? Do you know what the chicken you ate was fed on? In my eBook I talk about hormones a lot — hormones have a massive influence on your hair. But did you know that most ‘non-organically fed’ cattle are fed with hormone altering chemicals to make them grow faster and bigger? Food can have an impact on your hormones too, but don’t worry too much about this as there are far more influential factors at play than the food you eat. That said it’s worth considering.

Conclusion

My advise? Forget about supplement pills. In my eBook I explain five KEY superfoods that are natural whole foods, not supplement pills. I explain when you should eat these, how frequently, in what quantity and in what combinations to achieve optimum nutrition.

The food you eat isn’t going to have a massive impact on your hair, compared with other factors, such as stress, hormonal imbalance and blocked pores in the scalp. However by following my dietary regime, which I explain in detail in the eBook, you know you are getting everything your body needs for maximum hair growth and the prolonging of the hairs growth phase. It might be that your current diet misses one or even several key nutrients required to keep your hair healthy.

My dietary regime is specifically designed to maximise the health of the hair and the skin. It helps keep your digestive system clean and your liver strong. And it provides those key nutrients required for hair growth. It’s EASY to follow and it doesn’t require that you eat disgusting health foods, so there’s really no need to pop supplement pills.

So remember:

  • keep your diet simple: don’t overload your digestive system with highly concentrated or unnatural combinations of nutrients
  • eat naturally: organic food contains more nutrients because it is grown in a soil that is naturally fertile and high in nutrient content
  • make sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need: follow my simple dietary regime to maximise nutrients required for hair growth
