Ingredients Explained
Menthol
Despite being a relatively cheap and seemingly basic ingredient, menthol is actually a powerful natural hair loss treatment because it is a powerful natural anti-inflammatory. Scalp inflammation is significantly associated with hair loss and reducing scalp inflammation seems to promote hair growth.
I’ve included a high concentration of menthol (via peppermint oil) in my Ultra Strength Hair Loss Treatments.
Niacin
Niacin is a good choice for inclusion in a hair growth topical because it increases scalp blood circulation, which helps increase mineral and amino acid supply to the hair follicles.
Limonene
Limonene is a natural plant extract, taken from bitter orange. It has been shown to reduce inflammation and may also increase scalp PGE2.
Red Clover Extract
Red clover has been shown to reduce micro-inflammation in the hair follicle — inflammation of the hair follicle is strongly linked to male pattern hair loss. Therefore anti-inflammatories are often used as an effective treatment for hair loss.
EGCG
EGCG is an antioxidant polyphenol found in green tea. It’s a great addition to a hair loss topical — particularly for treating male pattern hair loss — because EGCG is known to bind with androgen receptors in the hair follicles, which prevents the androgen hormone, DHT, from binding with receptors and causing hair loss.
The verdict
I was expecting this product to be terrible, but it’s actually quite good. It’s particularly notable for its excellent anti-inflammatory ingredients, which have been shown to be effective at reducing hair loss.
