Min New York Secure Hair Gel Review

Min New York Secure Anti Hair Loss Hair Gel
I’ve been using MIN New York’s Secure Firm Gel on and off for around six months now. When I first started using it I had short hair and wanted to make it spiky-ish (or at least up and to the sides at the front). Although it’s labelled as firm gel I didn’t find it firm enough at all for short hair. The gel is quite ‘watery’.
I stopped using it and used wax instead to get a stronger hold.
I haven’t had my hair cut for about three months now and it’s getting quite long. So I decided to give the Min New York another try to gel my hair back. Now I find it’s actually quite good for this length of hair. I have to use quite a lot of it (two pumps at least) to get enough of it to cover my hair. Then I style my hair backwards and either comb it or leave it to dry naturally.
If you leave it to dry it turns hard, which some people like and I can see the advantages of it. It is just about strong enough to keep your hair in place, but I noticed as they day passed my hair gradually loses it’s style!

Min New York Secure Hair Gel for Hair Loss

The reason I bought this gel was because it has some really good ingredients. I don’t like plastering my hair with horrible chemicals, which is why I created this article about the best hair waxes and gels in the world.

Min New York’s Secure gel ingredients

Although it does contain a lot of artificial chemicals, Min New York’s Secure gel contains some great natural ingredients as well. Take a look:
Purified water, carbomer, Triethanolamine, PVP, VP/VA Copolymer. Polysorbate 20, Phenoxyethanol Methylparaben, Biotin, Propylparaben, Saw Palmetto Extract, Azelaic Acid, Copper Peptide Y-3®, Soybean Protein, Hydrolized Silk, Silk Amino Acid, Hydrolized Wheat Protein, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Acsorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Ginkgo Biloba Extract, Ginseng Root Extract, Aloe Leaf Extract, Zinc Sulfate, Fragrance and other ingredients.
Most noteworthy of these ingredients are the saw palmetto and azelaic acid, which may help block DHT. Vitamin A may help prevent hair loss – it acts as an antioxidant. Ginkgo biloba may help improve blood circulation (however this hasn’t been proven when used topically as fas as I know). And zinc may help kill the fungus that causes dandruff.

Conclusion

Min New York Secure Firm Gel is too weak for to firmly style short hair in my opinion, but it can work quite well on medium to short length hair. I also tried just using a small amount (half a pump) to style the front of my hair back and out of my face and it worked really well for that purpose.
In fact, probably the best way to use this gel, is to cover your hands in about a half pump of gel and cover your hair evenly in a very small amount of gel, then use it for a weak hold styling. But don’t expect to be able to create any extreme styles or spiky hair looks as it’s too weak.
