There’s very little information about this chemical. The only study I’ve found is published on a website belonging to a company that makes a hair loss treatment that contains sphinganine. The study claims sphinganine is comparable to Finasteride! I’m very sceptical.
According to an article on the Rekze website:
The Institute for Experimental Dermatology, Witten/Herdecke University conducted a clinical trial that resulted Sphinganine results are much better than those with Finasteride.

Honestly though, if that was true, I would have heard of sphinganine a long time ago and I’ve never heard of it.
According to their study, like Finasteride, sphinganine is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, which means it reduces the androgen hormone DHT. DHT causes male pattern baldness. It’s a strange article. I’m currently reviewing the Rekze 24 Serum and it looks like a great product. Sphinganine is the mystery ingredient. I had to look it up to find out about it.
It would be amazing if it was true, but if it was true, we would have heard about it. Perhaps I’ll contact Rekze to see if they can clarify their article.
