I’ve scoured the world for the very best organic hair conditioners with the best ingredients and shortlisted these ten. I’ve only selected conditioners that include nutritious ingredients and don’t include ingredients that aren’t beneficial for hair growth.
Please note: While these are some of the best natural organic hair conditioners in the world, just because they contain great ingredients like vitamins, minerals and proteins, doesn’t mean those nutrients are going to feed your hair. The only real way of sufficiently feeding your hair to make any noticeable difference is to feed it from within, either with very clever food combinations or with special supplementation.
That said, these are still some of the best conditioners for your hair. Rather than coating your hair and scalp with ‘artificial chemicals’, these conditioners will coat your hair with natural, organic, nutritious fruits, vegetables and oils.
-
Avalon Organics Refreshing Conditioner, Grapefruit & Geranium Around $8 for 11oz
- Vitamin B5 is known to condition hair, smoothing and potentially reducing breakage.
- Olive oil, sunflower oil and aloe vera may help protect hair from breakage.
- Contains arginine, an amino acid that improves blood circulation, which is key to hair growth. However, it may not absorb into the skin in significant amounts to have any effect.
- Contains borage oil and jojoba oil, both or which may benefit hair health.
- Contains potassium, which may improve function of potassium channels in cell membranes, in turn potentially improving hair growth. However, if potassium does not absorb into the skin in significant amounts it will have no positive effect.
Ingredients

- Contains white tea, which contains antioxidants, which may reduce oxidative damage to developing hair if it is absorbed into scalp.
- Contains potassium, which may improve function of potassium channels in cell membranes, in turn potentially improving hair growth. However, if potassium does not absorb into the skin in significant amounts it will have no positive effect.

The Verdict
It’s hard to pick the best one from these. I’d probably go for either the Avalon Organics Grapefruit and Geranium for most people, the Dessert Essence Organics for oily hair, the Avalon Organics B Complex Thickening Conditioner for people experiencing hair loss and I’d also consider the Bentley Organics for hair that is prone to breakage. I’d also consider using just a tiny bit of the Bentley Organics as a leave in conditioner to protect your hair during the day because it’s rich in oils and shea butter.
Remember, this is just a selection of organic conditioners. There are many more good ones available. If you would like to know if your conditioner is any good, post the name of the conditioner and your question in the comments below.
Concerned about your hair?
If you’re concerned about hair loss I’d recommend looking at the best hair loss shampoos in the world article as well. If you’re concerned about chemicals, take a look at these organic shampoos that don’t contain sodium lauryl sulphate.

Hi, recently I’ve been using Hair One Hair Cleanser and Conditioner with Tea Tree Oil as a conditioner after I shampoo. It leaves my hair looking great, very nice shine and very manageable, I really like what it does. They claim they use only natural ingredients, I was wondering what your opinion is on this brand of conditioner. Thanks!
Hi Chris,
It’s not too bad. Here are the ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Amodimethicone, CID 157846, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Prunus Serotina (Wild Cherr) Bark Extract, Panthenol, Butylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Menthol, Polysorbate 60, Citric Acid, BHT, Disodium EDTA, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid, Phenoxyethanol
You can see it has some good ingredients — it’s much better than your standard supermarket bought conditioners, but not quite as good as the conditioners listed in this article.
